What is a PAT Test?

A PAT Test assesses the electrical appliances to ensure that they are not faulty and that they are not likely to cause injury in way of electrical shock to the user or something worse. When talking about a PAT Test, the cost is normally based on the number of appliances requiring a test.

Once the test is complete, you will receive a certificate to show that it has passed or to say what remedy work needs to be undertaken.

Why is it recommended for landlords?

Although it is not law yet, only for commercial premises, residential landlords may opt for a PAT Test as faulty appliances can be inconvenient and most importantly, very dangerous. Knowing your electrical appliances are safe, offers both you and your tenants piece of mind.
